Home Based Business Perfected

By Tom Lauer

When it comes starting a home based business, this small business start up can't be beat for ease of setup, small investment and great reward. It can be achieved by most any person regardless of circumstances.

In the world of home ownership, there is always a constant. That is maintenance and upkeep. This is a natural ongoing dilemma because of time and money. If the homeowner cannot perform certain tasks such as painting or maybe masonry, then they must hire it out. But, it is pretty much in their control who they choose to perform this work and how much they will pay.

Now, if you throw in a small weather catastrophe such as a storm that includes wind and or hail, well now the homeowner control shifts pretty much to the "contractor". This is the person who will be doing the house repair. You see, most people do not realize that when a small storm passes through their town, very often damage from wind and hail to their roof and siding has occurred.

Damage to the roof and the siding is covered under the homeowner's insurance policy and therefore if they choose to get it repaired or replaced then the insurance has to pay for it, much like damage to a car.

This is where you come in. The first step in this process is to find areas within, let's say, a thirty mile radius of where you live that has sustained storm damage within one year prior. You can find this out for free by going on the National Weather Service web site, type in the state where you live, and start looking for storm dates. Always look at the hail reports and make sure the size is at least .88.

Bingo! You found a few and now it is time to spend a little money. Give yourself a company name and get some business cards and flyers printed up. Call your insurance co. and get a million dollars of liability. This will cost about one to two hundred dollars. I would also incorporate. This protects you personally a great deal, but you must treat this as a real business. The last thing is to get a tax I.D. number. Any accountant will get this for you or you will get it yourself if you know how.

OK, time to find a contractor that will do the work for you. This is easy, but REMEMBER they must have a license and be insured also. Note, some states require you as the business owner to be licensed. Go to any local Home Depot, Menards or roofing/siding supply house in your area and ask at the front desk for a list of preferred contractors. Get the names of at least three roofing contractors and three siding contractors.

Now that you settled on a contractor for each, time to go to your nearest roofing and siding suppliers and get an account. This is because you will be buying the roofing and siding. You will have to supply them with your business information and Tax I.D. Don't worry if you don't have credit or credit card, you can pre-pay in this business quite easily.

Put your sales hat on, here we go. This is really easy because you are basically giving something away for free. You must REMEMBER this will be a game of numbers. Take your flyers, business cards and new kackie pants and knock on doors. After you have your "presentation" down pat you should be able to get at least two appointments for every hour's work. Always do this between five and seven in the evening, Saturday and Sunday after twelve. These appointments are for inspection of their homes for hail damage. Homeowner must be home.

This concludes Part #1. Part #2 and #3 will be posted with all details within 2-3 days.

Thanks,
Tom

Ways To Money And Success Online

By Tom Lauer

There are many ways to make money online today. The easiest way, in my opinion is to be an affiliate marketer. This basically means that you will sell other people's products and collect a commission.

Now, how does one go about doing this? First you need to find a product to sell. There are many affiliate programs available on the internet. I think that if you are a beginner, you should start with a program such as Clickbank. I do not promote Clickbank. I am just using them as a good example of a product clearinghouse. Here, as with other programs, you will find hundreds even thousands of digital products to sell.

There are several factors to consider when choosing your product to sell. The first thing you should do is look at all the categories available and select about five or six items that interest you. The reason for this is you will tend to have more passion about that which you are promoting. Next, you should look at the "gravity" rating for these products. You want to choose something that rates one-hundred or higher. Finally, you try to choose something that pays fifty to seventy-five percent commission and sells for at least thirty dollars.

Now it is time to set up an account by following the simple instructions. Next, you create the hop link for the product you chose, again by following the simple instructions. Ok, now it is time to advertise!

Of all the advertising means available, today we'll go with Pay Per Click. There are many good pay per click search engines. Some of the top ones are Google Adwords, Search123, Yahoo, MSN Adcenter, Miva, Searchfeed, and Marchex Adhere.

Simply go to one and sign up for an account. After that, you give your campaign a name and type your ad. There are essentially four lines of ad space. The first one is your headline. This has to be good. It must really grab your readers attention. For this, go to any search engine and type in a word or words that describes your product, then study the first three to five headlines you see. This will give you a good start for a headline.

The next line will be for identifying with the reader, such as, " I have the same problem" and in the third line, you want to give them the benefit. This is where you tell them you can help. The fourth and final line is where you place the website URL that they will see. There is a fifth line that the reader does not see. This is the actual website address they will be taken to. In this case it will be the Clickbank hoplink address.

Now it is time for keywords. These are how your readers will find you. Using the PPC search engine's keyword tool, and again like you did above, type in the word or words that best describe your product. The tool will display the best keywords for that description. Pick and choose which keywords you like and add them to your keywords box.

Proceed by setting a daily limit for how much you want to spend. I suggest ten to fifteen dollars to start. Then set a default bid of thirty cents for keywords. This is how much it will cost every time someone clicks on your ad. Start your campaign and every couple of hours or so look at your ad position. Ideally, you want to be in the one to three position. Sometimes four to six is fine. Adjust your keyword bids up or down to where you are comfortable in price and position. This is very important.

And finally, start an ad variation of the first one and over a day or so see which one performs better. Delete the lesser performing one and write a new ad. Do this at least every other day till you have the best ad possible.

I highly recommend Commissiom Blueprint for the very best way to accomplish the above.

Calling All "Newbies" Part #1, An Overview

By Tom Lauer

How does a "newbie", begin the journey of starting his or her online business? This a question for the ages. There are several parts to the answer. First and foremost you must have a product or service to sell/promote. After that, you must determine if there is a market for your product. Then you must determine how much competition you will be up against.

After you have selected a product or service, whether it is your own or someone elses, (afilliate), it is time to set up a website of some sort. This can be a Blog, a simple squeeze page, or a full blown website with multiple pages. You can advertise someone elses website but this is not really the way to go if you plan on building a name for yourself, which is crucial. Also, you need to start building a list of people/prospects who have shown an interest in what you have to offer.

Ok, now that you have a website, you need to start advertising your product or service. This is where it really gets crazy. There are alot of ways to get your products in front of people's eyes. There are paid methods and there are free methods. The paid methods can be very tricky because there are a ton of companies on the internet that claim they will get you a lot of traffic to your site, but in reality they just take your money and you never see the traffic. I'm not saying there aren't good companies out there, but you really have to do your homework before forking out your hard earned cash or you will lose interest in no time. This is one of the many reasons only about five percent of online startups make it at all. Scary, Huh?

One example of a very good paid method is something called pay per click. This is an excellent way to promote your business, but if you are not thorougly familiar on all the ins an outs, then you will just be wasting your time and money. Now, like I said earlier there a many ways to promote your online business using free methods. These ways of advertising are excellent but will take time instead of your money. BUT... in the long run this is far and away the best way to go.

A few examples of these are Article marketing, press releases, you tube, my space, SEO, blogging and forums. All of these take time, but once you are set up and running, you need to develop a routine of what you will do on a daily basis and then you stick to that schedule and you will start to see results. I wrote this article to give just a simple basic overview of what it takes to start an online business. My next article and thereafter will be to introduce and explain in laymen's terms all the steps mentioned above.

Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay Per Click Advertising Can Make You Or Break You.

By Tom Lauer

Pay per click advertising is just one of many advertising
mediums in use today to market various products and services on
the internet. There are many pay per click search engines with
the best known being Google Adwords, MSN Adcenter,
Miva,Searchfeed, Marchex Adhere, ABC Search, 7search, and
Search123.

Most people who start out with a new venture and have a
product or service to sell will go directly with the most
advertised way to market their wares. This is completely
normal. The problem is that with any advertising medium, you
must thoroughly understand the way this medium works. If you do
not, you might find yourself running down the street screaming
while pulling on your hair. Wow, what a sight !

Keyword research is probably the most important aspect to
a successful PPC campaign. You must use a keyword tool which
most search engines supply for free. These keywords must
pertain directly to your wares. Using these tools will tell you
how many people are looking for your type of product and how
much competition you will have. Another thing these tools will tell you is approximately
how much money you can expect to pay every time someone clicks
on your ad. Don't worry so much about that at first. You can
tackle that when you set up your campaign by changing
variations of your keywords and getting the bid prices to where
you feel comfortable.

If you want the ultimate keyword tool, I highly recommend
a product called "Market Samurai". This is a product that does
alot more than keyword analysis, but I believe the keyword part
of it is free and will remain that way. They show you how to
choose your words and phrases, then drill down alot further to
highly target your niche. This is extremely important and will
save you a ton of time, money and aggravation in the long run.

The next most important step in advertising this way is
the ad itself. If the ad does not work, you have nothing. Start
by studying other ads. Go to Google search and type in your
keywords. Look at the ads listed to the right. The ones in the
top three positions are there for only two reasons. One is how
much they pay for clicks and the other for the quality of there
ad and the amount of clicks they are getting.

Do these ads grab your attention? Are they following the
old AIDA rule? That is Attention, Interest, Desire and Action.
Your headline is the most important part of your ad. It is what
will determine if the reader will read the rest of your ad.
This where you should spend most of your time writing it.
Interest is where you entice your reader, maybe offer them
a something of value. You want them to read on.

Desire is where you include your most important benefit.
Show them what you can do for them, solve their problem with
your product or service.
Action is where you tell your reader/prospect what to do
next. This a call to action. "Follow These Steps", "Go Here
Now", "Don't Miss Out".

After you met these goals, submit your ad and get that
campaign going. Create a variation of the ad and submit that
also. After a day, delete the weaker ad and submit another
variation. Do this on a regular basis to get the very best ad
in front of your future customers.
